Washington Nationals at Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Pick – August 21st

We picked a nice win every night, to run our listing to 5-2 on the week once we backed the St. Louis Cardinals at home against the Milwaukee Brewers. This looked like a game, but I enjoyed backing the Cards in the home because they had the fourth-best home winning percentage in the majors heading into a night’ s game. The Brewers had struggled on the road all season long and had lost five out of their last seven games. When the Cardinals transferred from home favorites, to even money, it created even more worth, and all over the Cardinals jumped.
The match was actually a lot closer than you might be shown by the final score as the score was 1-0 through five innings. St. Louis made a somewhat controversial choice to pull starting pitcher Michael Wacha, that was absolutely cruising, after just four innings of work as they ended up pinch-hitting to get Wacha with all the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth.
They couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity, as well as Wacha out of the match, the bullpen instantly gave up their lead. In my pick yesterday I mentioned that I was seeking to evaporate that the Brewers bullpen, who have been abused and used the past several games. And after matters turned over to the pen, the wheels fell off to the Brewers.
St. Louis ended up scoring eight runs on five different Milwaukee replacements in just four innings. The big bang was a bases-loaded twice by Dexter Fowler that broke up a 2-2 tie and gave the Cards the lead for good. With the win, the Cardinals placed more distance between themselves and the Brewers in the Central Division race.
Milwaukee is fading quickly and four games back. The Chicago Cubs stay Only a half of a game back of the Cardinals and found a triumph against the San Francisco Giants yesterday. It appears like it is going to be an end for those ages this season in the NL Central Division. Where the Pirates host the Nationals for the selection of today, we will head to Pittsburgh.
The Washington Nationals are at Pittsburgh Wednesday for game three of a four-game set from the Pirates. The series is all tied up at once game heading into game three tonight. The Nats have gone out of playoff currently, and shot to card favorites in just a couple of week’s time hold a one-game lead over the Cubs for the wild card slot at the NL. The Nationals have won ten out of their last two matches.
For the Pirates, they had done a decent job of staying competitive a lot of the season, by losing eight straight games to drop out of their playoff conversation, but they opened . The Pirates have been at the central, a whopping fifteen and a half games back of the Cardinals in last place for first place, and have lost four out of the last six games.
Beginning tonight for the Nationals is Patrick Corbin (9-5 3.34 ERA), and also for the Pirates it’s Joe Musgrove (8-11 4.59 ERA). The game is placed at nine runs. The Nationals are -145 road favorites. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 PM PST in PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
Patrick Corbin has been brought in Stephen Strasburg and to be a number three at the Washington rotation behind Max Scherzer. And for the most part, he’s lived up to that hype. Corbin is best five in the NL in strikeouts with 180. Two of him? Scherzer and Strasburg. Along with also that his ERA is a very respectable 3.34.
In Julyhe was nearly unhittable since he’d a 1.94 ERA in six starts, and the Nationals won five from those sox games. In Augusthe started out a bit slow because he got roughed up from the Arizona Diamondbacks, but at his last two starts, he has thrown a twelve innings and has allowed only three earned runs. Against the Pirates earlier this season, Corbin pitched a gem, since he pitched seven innings, allowing only one run.
Joe Musgrove has a significant task at hand tonight. This Nationals group has decided to start moving the bats here in August. Washington is leading the National League in runs and had scored runs in four of the previous five games before last night’s match. We saw where they scored thirteen conducts exactly how strong this Washington offense can be in game one of the series.
Musgrove was solid in his last start against the Chicago Cubs, but also for the month of August, he has a 0-2 record with a 7.31 ERA in 3 starts. He has struggled since then, although this guy had an ERA of under two runs at the end of April. He has permitted five runs or more. Ouch.
This is a mismatch. We see a lot of these late in the season where a single team is pushing for the playoffs, along with evaluate talent and another team is trying to play the rest of the season out. Winning isn’t a priority right now to the Pirates, and it reveals. So, clearly, the negative is Washington. Along with the cost isn’t all this unattractive.
Nevertheless, as soon as I look at the run point, I find that I can find the Nats. Now that sounds! Corbin is very likely to shut down this team tonight. Remember when I mentioned that the Nats lead the NL in scoring here in August? The Pirates have been on the end of the spectrum as they are out of fifteen in the league in runs scored. With just the Miami Marlins one run behind them.
I see Corbin getting us seven or six innings with lots of strikeouts, and also the Nationals beating at Joe Musgrove. I really don’t know whether it is going to escape hand if the Pirates were punished by the Nationals on fifteen hits to the tune of thirteen runs as it did in game but, but it might. Either way I visit that the Nationals cruising to the success by runs, so I go for the bigger payout and will take advantage of the rush line. Give the Washington Nationals setting a streak and a half in game three from Pittsburgh to me!
