New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees needs surgery on injured right thumb

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees may miss six weeks and will undergo surgery to repair the ligament in his thumb, NFL Network reported Monday.
Teddy Bridgewater will step into the starting role this weekend in Seattle.
After getting knocked from the group’s loss to the Rams from the first quarter together with all the harm brees said on Sunday he saw a hand specialist in Los Angeles.
“Yeah, I’m concerned,” said Brees, who wore a brace on the thumb postgame. “I am hoping it’s not overly important.”
Brees said he’d X-rays but in the time promised not to know if it was a cartilage or bone issue.
“I’m hoping for the very best and just preparing for whatever the upcoming steps could be,” he said.
Brees hit on his right hand on defensive tackle Aaron Donald’s right hand when following through on an incomplete pass to Jared Cook on third-and-8 midway through the quarter. He had been spotted struggling to pick up a chunk, then needed the thumb.
“Right off when he attempted to throw, he had been having trouble with it. It wasn’t anything fancy,” coach Sean Payton said in his postgame press conference.
“We’ll provide you an upgrade when the time is ”
Bridgewater entered with 3:29 remaining in the first quarter. He moved 17 of 30.
Before departing, brees started the game 3 of 5 for 38 yards and an interception.
He came from the locker room after halftime using the tape off of his hand and with a helmet , but did not enter and then was re-taped.
Even the 40-year-old has missed only 1 game since joining the Saints in 2006, which came because of a shoulder problem in 2015 due to injury.
He’s missed two other competitions of a possible 210 with all the Saints, both while resting together with the team’s playoff place in Week 17 protected.
The league’s all-time top passer requires 155 yards to be the first in NFL history to pass for 75,000 metres.

Premier League stats: English players getting more minutes?

A month to the 2019/20 Premier League year and some fascinating patterns appear to be developing.
There are moments a new reliance on youth, for English players, Harry Kane continues to struggle facing goal in August and one group leads the way when it comes to headers that are scoring.
These are merely some of the trends picked out in the first four matches of the campaign…
It’s but one of the very talked-about stats around time – the percentage of moments by English players at the Premier League.
If this year is anything to go by – albeit with a small sample size to play together – it looks as though English players ‘ are being handed match season, when Gareth Southgate comes to picking his squad which may be a favorable.
Last year, for example, the whole proportion of minutes played by English players at the airport was 29.94 per cent, a figure which dropped drastically to only 20.56 per cent when the top six clubs were concerned.
This effort, however, these numbers have climbed to 34.3 per cent – the maximum figure since the 2013-14 year – and 27.26% respectively, together with Chelsea that a fantastic illustrator of possibly a new fashion in the Premier League, particularly one of the six.
Indeed, there could be no greater indication of the than looking at who has been on goal from the Premier League to get Frank Lampard’s side up to now this year, with six of their goals being scored by players.
Mason Mount, Among that, is currently in line to make his debut after becoming 21 aged or under to net in successive Premier League appearances for Chelsea since Carlton Cole at April 2003.
Chelsea’s recent 3-2 win at Norwich also observed two players aged 21 or below dent in the league match for your club for over a quarter of a century, while Arsenal were adopting a similar approach.
At the opening day of this season, Unai Emery named two English teenagers – Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock – at his starting XI at St James’ Park, the first time.
This may just be a passing fad, instead of a real change in the flight as a whole, and emphasis from the clubs.
The only way to know for certain are to monitor the tendency over the span of the effort to see if Southgate will have gamers with higher Premier League expertise next 45, to predict beforehand of Euro 2020.
Sean Dyche will hope that Chris Wood’s odd own goal, which handed Liverpool the lead in the Saturday Night Football clash at Turf Moor, isn’t an indicator of an trendsetting in at the heart.
On the other hand, the facts say otherwise, with the New Zealand striker’s OG indicating Burnley’s sixth as August 2017, more than another Premier League side.
And the chief culprit? The Clarets’ recently named captain Ben Mee of the six very own targets!
Gunnar Solskjaer pledged to give youth an opportunity after shooting more than Chelsea and Manchester United .
On the opening weekend of the campaign, when the two sides faced each other in the Theatre of Dreams, Chelsea’s starting XI average age was 25 decades and 199 times – their youngest ever on Matchday 1 (MD1) of a Premier League season.
Meanwhile, the United’s average age of 24 decades and 227 times was their second youngest on MD1, supporting only their lineup at the 2011-12 season opener against West Brom (24y 161d).
Once the visitors fielded a starting XI whose average age of 24 decades and 208 times was their youngest in the top flight for a quarter of a century, this trend was continued by new Chelsea manager Lampard at Carrow Road around MD3.
Arsenal made life London derby after moving in half-time 2-0 down the target, to arch-rivals Tottenham the consequence of a rash challenge from Granit Xhaka, which handed the visitors a punishment.
Fans should currently be tired and ill of seeing their staff hand because August 2017, no side have surrendered penalties than Unai Emery’s – 15, 14 of which have been scored.
Incredibly, however, it is the third game in a row against Spurs the Gunners have conceded a penalty – all of which have been played by Harry Kane – although even more noteworthy is that as the beginning of last year, Arsenal have also given away two spot-kicks at precisely exactly the same match against both Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
Harry Kane is a goal machine. The England and Tottenham striker has scored a remarkable 127 objectives in just 184 appearances for the north London club since making his Premier League debut in August 2012.
However perhaps rustiness after the start of the season has always proved a tricky time for the normally reddish forward forward.
In reality, Kane has been able to get the back of the internet on just four events at 19 games in the month of August, making it easily his worst scoring month of this campaign.
Really, before last year, the 26-year-old had not even scored a goal in the beginning of the campaign, a eccentric run that had stretched an incredible 1,065 minutes over five seasons and 14 fixtures, until he was on goal at Spurs’ 3-1 win over Fulham at the opening battle at home last year.
Although the frontman netted two to assist Tottenham come from behind to conquer Aston Villa 3-1 at home, that goal was followed by a second on his side’s 3-0 win at Man United nine days afterwards.
Kane, however, was once more scoreless in Spurs’ next two league games in August – the two of that Mauricio Pochettino’s team failed to triumph meaning the generally prolific marksman’s strike-rate for this particular month has dropped back to a relatively paltry 0.21 targets per game (GPG).
However, in comparison to his general Premier League scoring rate of 0.69 GPG, there’s not any doubt that August remains Kane’s least favourite scoring month of this season.
Whatever heading exercises Liverpool’s players have been working on in practice at Melwood of late, and they seem to be functioning.
That’s because the side of Jurgen Klopp have scored 22 goals from headers in the Premier League because the beginning of last year – like a team-high six from Sadio Mane – seven over any other team.
Anyone believing this run of goals that are headed was just a fashion that is one-off last season, however, had better this campaign.

Japan 3-26 South Africa: Rassie Erasmus open to Brave Blossoms joining Rugby Championship

South Africa coach Rassie Erasmus considers adding Japan into the Rugby Championship are anintriguing proposal but fears logistical hurdles can make it impossible.
The hosts lit up this seasons World Cup with a series of displays before crashing out in Tokyo to the Springboks.
Even though Erasmus team are looking forward following their triumph that is 26-3 following Sunday to a semi-final showdown with Wales, the Brave Blossoms confront a return to the outer limits of the game.
As a Tier Two outfit, Japan compete annually at the Pacific Nations Cup and the Asia Rugby Championship but there are calls for these to be admitted to the Rugby Championship to improve their development with regular clashes from New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Argentina.
However, Boks coach Erasmus isnt convinced that the idea will take off.
He said:Itd be interesting, I think that its a great debate to have. Their kind of play could be something intriguing.
But then all the queries, the weather, possible problems and solutions, negative and positive, I just wouldnt know that. I have not really put my thinking hat on about that.
It appears like a fantastic proposition, but it comes to whether it is logistically and financially possible, can it make sense in broadcasting, travel-wise?
I really do know the brand they perform is exciting and they would really match. However, aside from that I would be dumb to comment because Im not part of those talks.
Japan looked to replicate their shock win over the Springboks from four decades back.
Their relentless pace and energy in attack has tripped up Scotland and Ireland in this years contest but Erasmus sent his hitters out and succeeded in overpowering their smaller opponents.
Giant prop Tendai Mtawarira was blessed never to be sent off for a shocking ditch tackle on opposite amount Keita Inagaki and with that let-off after Makazole Mapimpi scored both sides of a Faf De Klerk try that the South Africans grunted their way to victory.
Coach Jamie Joseph couldnt confuse his Brave Blossoms although the final scoreline was harsh on Japan.
Im just really pleased with the Japan group and all the gamers, he explained.
Weve had massive support, the players knew that and it really helped us.
Occasionally home benefit can work against you personally but the support was fantastic.
The last five minutes of the Test match revealed what type of group this is. We still had the mindset although we were down by points. People just kept on becoming.
We refused to lie and I am really proud of this as a coach. And that.
I cant tell you anything about whats next but I know Japanese rugby is in a fantastic spot now.
The players along with the new rugby theyve been playing, it is inspiring. The only difference is everyone is observing us.
The rugby hasnt altered, but currently theres been an audience. It is made a voice to your team in that respect and hopefully that will give endings for Japanese children, and thats best.

Flyers vs. Flames NHL Pick – October 15th

My final selection in last week led to a loss whenever the New York Islanders dropped a 5-2 event and went into Carolina — pushing the total over six in the process.
The Hurricanes’ back end was able to keep the Isles at bay with this one, but also the league’s best defense against a year ago lasted its rocky start by allowing four goals before an empty-netter with under a minute to go ended up sinking our pick.
It’s been a fine beginning to the year and I will look to continue with my second pick of the afternoon containing Calgary Flames and the Philadelphia Flyers from the Saddledome in Calgary that is downtown.

Chicago White Sox vs Los Angeles Angels MLB Pick – August 16

The MLB is put with a different full night of action on Friday night. There will be a total of fifteen matches on the plank for August 16 as a second weekend of baseball begins. One of the matchups to end the night will probably be involving the Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Angels. These two teams have been set to meet at around 10:07 PM Eastern time on Friday night.
The White Sox have made a list of 54-66 for this stage in this season, which includes them sitting in third position of the AL Central. Chicago hasn’t had the best season, but they’ll look to attempt to finish powerful as the year nears its finish. The White Sox have won two of their last 3 games and will look to keep that streak going with a road victory against the Angels.
Los Angeles has a list of 60-63 this year, which includes them sitting in fourth position of the AL West. The Angels have struck a small dry spell as of late, dropping ten of the last fourteen games. Los Angeles is twenty five matches from a wild card spot in the American League, but may make a push to this whenever they capture hot in those last weeks of this year.
The White Sox and the Angels equally have losing records for this stage in the season, but are still seeking to finish powerful. Both rosters are solid and should match up nicely with each other once again. Chicago and Los Angeles are meeting up in their very first series for the season. Last night’s match was a great night to feel each other out, which ought to lead to an aggressive second matchup.
The White Sox and the Angels met up twice last season. The first show was hosted by Chicago at the later stages of the year. The White Sox were able to win the first two games 5-3 and 4-2, but Los Angeles bounced back to win the third and the fourth game with scores of 11-3 and 12-8. The next series shifted to Los Angeles, in which the Angels spanned Chicago by scores of 5-2, 12-3 and 1-0.
The first game of this series was last night at Los Angeles. The Angels got started early since Mike Trout and Justin Upton homered to assist direct Los Angeles to a 8-2 lead. Jose Abreu homered in the seventh inning to pull it nearer. Welington Castillo had a two-run homer for the White Sox at front of the ninth as Chicago made a comeback drive. The White Sox attempt fell short though since they lost 8-7.
The Angeles set a list of 5-2 against Chicago last season and were able to pull off another win against the White Sox on Thursday night. Chicago will have to get a better beginning on Friday night if they would like to bounce back in last night’s loss. When the White Sox can ride the momentum from last night’s ninth-inning however, I think that they can triumph in the next game of this collection.
Jose Abreu has put up a strong performance throughout this year, making 133 hits, 25 home runs and 89 RBI’s. Leury Garcia has 34 RBI’s and 126 hits. Tim Anderson has earned 110 hits, 12 homers and 40 RBI’s. James McCann has put up 86 strikes, 13 homers and 43 RBI’s, although Eloy Jimenez has 76 strikes, 20 home runs and 47 RBI’s on the season.
David Fletcher contributes Los Angeles in hits with 123, but just has 5 home runs and 42 RBI’s. Mike Trout directs this team with 121 hits, 40 homers, 93 RBI’s and an OPS of all 1.093. Kole Calhoun has got 99 hits, 26 home runs and 60 RBI’s. Shohei Ohtani has 90 strikes, 15 home runs and 49 RBI’s. Albert Pujols includes 86 hits, 18 home runs and 70 RBI’s, while Brian Goodwin includes 80 strikes and 10 homers.
These two teams have solid hitters during their lineup, but that I think that the Angels have a small advantage with Mike Trout within their lineup. Meanwhile, the White Sox are missing Yoan Moncada, that has 112 strikes and 20 home runs on the season, that includes hurt them. Both these lineups can do some damage though should they go up from weak pitching.
The White Sox will have Lucas Giolito start on the mound for Friday night’s tilt. Giolito has set up an impressive 12-6 listing through 23 starts this year. In those starts, he has published an ERA of 3.42 and a WHIP of both 1.127. Giolito’s last start came from the Oakland A’s, at which he allowed five hits and two runs with 13 strikeouts through six innings.
Patrick Sandoval will begin for Los Angeles in Friday night’s match. Sandoval has just played two games and has one start this season. In these two games, he’s got a 5.59 ERA and a WHIP of both 1.552. Sandoval’s start came against the Boston Red Sox on August 11. Sandoval allowed six hits and four runs through four and two-thirds innings.
I believe that the White Sox have a nice advantage in this matchup when it comes to pitching. Giolito has put up a solid year for Chicago, while Sandoval has only played twice and hasn’t been fantastic. I feel that the White Sox will have a fantastic chance to get an early lead against Sandoval, which could give them the necessary advantage in this game.
The Angeles managed to acquire the very first game of this series, but I think that the White Sox are going to be able to rebound with a win of their own on Friday night. Chicago and Los Angeles match up well on the hitting side, but together with Giolito beginning for the White Sox, I like them to pull off the win. Sandoval has been subpar in his matches played so far and I do not expect a terrific beginning in him on Friday night.
BetOnline has Los Angeles recorded as a -124 from the money line in this game. This means that the Angels will win this match around 55.4% of their moment. I believe that this match needs to be much closer to actually, which provides a lot of value to the White Sox. I’m taking Chicago to bounce back in Thursday night’s loss.

UFC 222 Predictions & Picks: Everyone Pyle On!

There is a lot of gambling value on UFC 222 (Sat., March 3, 10:00 p.m. ET).
Will the layoff for Caraway and Zingano hurt their chances?
Can Mike Pyle (+250) complete off his career with a win for bettors?
Due to injury UFC 222 is overlooking featherweight champ Max Holloway and that’s a damn pity. However, in the co-main event, perennial title contender Frankie Edgar will lock horns with towering Brian Ortega to decide who truly deserves the next shot Holloway’s gold.
Over on the women side of the branch, UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg returns to action to face UFC newcomer Yana Kunitskaya. Why is the most important event, many are asking? I guess the powers that be felt fans could be sold on the joys of seeing a lion maul a lamb.
On paper, this looks like a card however these are the ones that sneak up on you, and if you enjoy gambling on mixed martial arts, then this card is stacked with potential profit.
We played it safe and went 1-1 but we still came ahead and that’s what we are looking to do this week using all our best bets for UFC 222.

The pay-per-view can cost us around $60, so we’ll need a way to make that cash back. Below are three straight bets that are worth carrying and we could’ve easily taken more. Although the chances are juicy on Brian Ortega (+160) and Cat Zingano (+132), we proceed in another direction.
BRYAN CARAWAY (+140) vs. CODY STAMANN (-160)
This is really a moneyline on BetOnline.ag you quickly want to jump because there’s no way Bryan Caraway (21-7) ought to be an underdog in this fight.
“Kid Lightning” has been on the sidelines the past couple of years because of trauma but let’s not neglect the man total skill set and previous Octagon success. Do not get me wrong, Cody Stamann (16-1) is no slouch either, he recently upset a top prospect in Tom Duquesnoy at UFC 216, however Caraway will be his toughest competition to date.
Not only can Caraway push the pace and keep up with Stamann from the grappling department, he also has a 68??? achieve benefit in the striking that will allow him to work his range like he did against Eddie Wineland.
The layoff does not concern me. Caraway is only better regardless of where this bout goes and he fights at this a grueling pace that Stamann is going to be ceased.

Liverpool’s Divock Origi will have scan on injury which forced him out of Newcastle win, says Jurgen Klopp

Divock Origi will have a scan in an injury sustained in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Newcastle, Jurgen Klopp has stated.
Prior to his replacement Roberto Firmino played a significant part in the second and third targets of Liverpool Newcastle midfielder Miguel Almiron injured in an early challenge origi and limped prior to half-time.
Klopp stated:”Regrettably Divock twisted his ankle early in the match, also had to come off. We hope it is not severe, or that he could’ve played , which is hopefully a indication that it is not that severe. He’s having a scan, he’s in really great shape and hopefully they’ll find it is fine.
” It was my decision to launch him on the left and right Sadio at the middle, we have seen it work ahead, but it didn’t work today against such a deep defending side. That’s the reason why we changed it in the game too.”
Along with this harm, Klopp had additional frustration with Liverpool’s cluttered start to the match, permitting Jetro Willems to shoot Newcastle leaving only one blank sheet from their opening five games of this season to Liverpool.
“I began playing it once about 25 minutes when we eventually arrived in the match,” he said. “We will need to work on this but it sometimes happens, it was hard. When they are great on the counter-attack newcastle did everything they did, it’s hard.
“We had an additional 15 minutes or so to place our rhythm, as you must be much quicker than we were in the first part of the game. The second we started doing that, we scored two great goals and in the second half, after learning in the sport we scored after but played very well.”
When Joel Matip appeared to be dragged to the ground by Jamaal Lascelles liverpool were denied a penalty but a VAR review consented Andre Marriner’s decision to not award a spot kick.
The under-fire video inspection system has come in for criticism to its large bar which has been put to overturn’clear and apparent mistakes’, with referees chief Mike Riley declaring this week had missed four big events so far this season, and Klopp stated he’d have expected a review to have overturned the decision on this occasion.
“I believe they did a critique, the fourth official told me that they did, and was surprised it still wasn’t a punishment? Yes,” he explained. “But that does not help obviously in scenarios such as this being surprised. It was a clear penalty for me but so long as we win, it’s not a problem – we would speak.
“It’s a penalty; you cannot fight like this to get a ball, it is a wrestling position on Joel Matip. You don’t require VAR, just whistle and have a shot.”
